The Jones County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Downtown Abby Bodyworks Stretch Coaching LLC at 313 Central Avenue in downtown Laurel on Monday, February 10th, at 3 p.m. The event marked the latest addition to the city's growing list of unique, locally owned businesses.
Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee was on hand to welcome owner Abigail Coquilla, a licensed massage therapist with an impressive background in therapeutic care. "We want to welcome you to downtown Laurel. Thank you for adding to the offerings," Mayor Magee shared during the ceremony. "As you continue to add little unique things that the city needs. Anything that the city can do for you, just let us know."
Coquilla brings a wealth of experience to her new venture, having worked in multiple states and renowned facilities across the country. Mississippi is the fourth state where Coquilla holds a massage therapy license, following Florida, Nevada, and Louisiana. She began her formal training in Florida and went on to work for Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas and the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans. Her expertise combines both medical training and holistic practices, blending Eastern and Western therapeutic modalities to offer a range of services.
Downtown Abby Bodyworks offers a variety of treatments including Swedish massage, couples massage, Japanese extreme tissue massage, and facial and anti-aging procedures. Coquilla is available to serve clients Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In celebration of the grand opening, Coquilla is offering a 15% discount on gift certificates and pre-booked appointments. Additionally, she will host an open house on Saturday, March 1st, where prospective clients can learn more about the services she offers.

After the ribbon cutting, Coquilla led the guests on a tour of her new facilities, which are located in the Arthur’s Building across from Mimmo’s. During the tour, Coquilla explained the various techniques she uses, as well as the science behind them, providing guests with a deeper understanding of her work.
