SCRMC Host Annual Health Fair, provides over $1,000 worth of screenings to participants

On Friday, February 4, 2022 South Central Regional Medical Center hosted its annual health fair at South Central Place in Laurel from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The event was attended by over 100 members of the community who were able to meet with health care providers, get additional information about a variety of healthcare and support services and receive up to $1,000 in medical screenings from more than 20 booths set up to provide information and support.

Although SCRMC was able to host the fair in February 2020; they did have to cancel the 2021 fair due to rising Covid-19 cases.

“It’s important to host this event because a lot of people are not seeking healthcare,” Becky Collins, Vice President of Marketing and Community Relations at South Central Regional Medical Center explained citing financial hardship and concerns about Covid spread as reasons that many people have avoided proactive health screenings. The South Central Health Care Foundation raises money throughout the year to allow SCRMC to provide free screenings at the annual health fair. They also sponsor several other educational health events throughout the year.
