Oak Park Celebrated 24th Biennial Homecoming Reunion

The National Oak Park High School Alumni Association celebrated its 24th Biennial Homecoming Reunion and 45th Anniversary this summer. The celebration began on Thursday, June 27th when Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee met with class members to proclaim June 28th through July 1st, 2024 as set aside for the National Oak Park High School Alumni Association Reunion and Anniversary Celebration.

The busy weekend officially got underway with a homecoming parade at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28th.

The proclamation read as follows:

Whereas, with great fanfare and tradition, the National Oak Park High School Alumni Association with gather in Laurel to host their 24th Biennial Homecoming Reunion and 45th Anniversary from Friday, June 28 through Monday, July 1, 2024; and

Whereas, Oak Parkites and Heritage Members will be traveling from all over the country to attend this great celebration in our historic town; and

Whereas, the Homecoming Reunion Theme for 2024 is “Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Present, and Embracing Future Generations”; and

Whereas, Oak Parkites and Heritage Members cherish the words from the Oak Park School Song…

She has these souls of ours, so closely bound to hers

We will remember thee, and lessons learned,

We’ll try to do our best, and to thee, glory bring.

Whereas, the City of Laurel is proud to be the home of Oak Park High School and to claim as “our own” the distinguished alumni gathered to reminisce and celebrate this treasured heritage

Now, therefore, I Johnny Magee, Mayor of the City of Laurel, Mississippi, do hereby recognize June 28 through July 1, 2024 as

National Oak Park High School Alumni Association Reunion and Anniversary Celebration

In the City of Laurel and urge all citizens to join me in welcoming members of this distinguished group and wishing them well on the occasion of their reunion and anniversary.

In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Laurel, Mississippi, to be affixed this the 27th day of June, A.D. 2024.

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile.
