Recent heavy rains will affect debris pickup

July 29, 2024

The City of Laurel’s Public Works Department would like to let the city’s residents know that due to recent heavy rains, the Randy Danny landfill has become temporarily inaccessible. This inaccessibility means that city workers will be unable to pickup debris for the remainder of the week. This includes discarded furniture and appliances and construction materials.

The city will be able to continue to pick up leaves and limbs and WastePro Garbage Services will run their regular routes throughout the week to collect household garbage.

Thank you for your patience.

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile. In recent years, the city has become a destination all its own thanks, in part, to its starring role in HGTV’s popular “Hometown” series. As Laurel, and interest in it, continues to grow, we are committed to providing the resources necessary to help all of our residents and businesses reach their full potential.
