Chamber hosts two ribbon cuttings this week

May 27, 2022

Jones County Chamber of Commerce celebrated two ribbon cuttings in Laurel this week. Chuck May Shelter Insurance hosted their ribbon cutting on Tuesday, May 24th at 2 p.m. The event had been several years in the making as May explained that he and his team had moved in December 2019 and were unable to celebrate the opening of their new location due to the 2020 pandemic.

Local bookstore owner Sonya Dykes merged her stores The Christian Bookstore in the Window and The Bookstore in the Window into one location. She and the Jones County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the new location at 527 Central Avenue with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, May 25th at 1 p.m.

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile. In recent years, the city has become a destination all its own thanks, in part, to its starring role in HGTV’s popular “Hometown” series. As Laurel, and interest in it, continues to grow, we are committed to providing the resources necessary to help all of our residents and businesses reach their full potential.
