April 10, 2024

Community leaders gathered on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Kim’s No Bull dealership to be located at 1635 Grandview Drive.

The event began at 10:30 a.m. with remarks by Jones County Chamber of Commerce Director Chris Tullos. Tullos thanked Bob and Kim Hobbs for their dedication and continuing investment in Jones County.

Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee also thanked Hobbs for moving her business to the other side of I59. He expressed his hope and expectations that the move will spur more growth and economic development in that part of the city.

Phil Dickerson, President of the Jones County Board of Supervisors called the long-awaited project an “excellent collaboration” between the Jones County Board of Supervisors and the City of Laurel.

Chairman and CEO of AnderCorp, Roy Anderson III, stated that he was proud that his company could be a part of the process and estimated that building the facility would create 150-175 new construction jobs in the area over the course of the project and predicted that it would be an “extremely successful project benefitting the local community greatly.”

Finally, Kim Hobbs thanked everyone for their attendance at the event and thanked Mayor Johnny Magee, the Laurel City Council, the Jones County Board of Supervisors, the Jones County Economic Development Authority, AnderCorp and their subcontractors, YSM, Community Bank, and her employees and every citizen of Laurel and Jones County for their support over the last 25 years. “This project couldn’t come together without each and every one of you. I look forward to continuing to support the City of Laurel and all their automotive needs. I am grateful for each and every one of you,” she said. “Now let’s get this dealership built! And that ain’t NO BULL!”

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile. In recent years, the city has become a destination all its own thanks, in part, to its starring role in HGTV’s popular “Hometown” series. As Laurel, and interest in it, continues to grow, we are committed to providing the resources necessary to help all of our residents and businesses reach their full potential.
