Laurel Fire Department promotes officers and swears in new firefighters

During a brief ceremony on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in city council chambers, Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee swore in two new firefighters and promoted three individuals currently serving in the city’s fire department.

Savannah Buckman and Jeremy Henley took the oath of office to become the city’s newest firefighters.

Current firefighter Troy Murff was promoted to lieutenant, Lieutenant Ernest Allen was promoted to captain, and Captain Edwin Blue was promoted to battalion chief. For more photos, check out our Instagram page at Laurel_MS.

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile.
