Laurel Police Department to host Annual Tyrone Stewart Memorial Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive

November 2, 2021

On Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20, the Laurel Police Department and The Good Samarian Center of Laurel will host their annual Tyrone Stewart Memorial Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive.

During the two-day event, members of the police department will be accepting donations from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. outside of Walmart. Donations of canned meats, dry pasta, dry beans, canned vegetables and fruits, rice mixes, canned spaghetti and sauces, condiments, and any other canned, dried, or boxed non-perishable food item will be accepted to benefit The Good Samaritan Center of Laurel.

The event was started last year to honor late Laurel Police Chief Tyrone Stewart.

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile. In recent years, the city has become a destination all its own thanks, in part, to its starring role in HGTV’s popular “Hometown” series. As Laurel, and interest in it, continues to grow, we are committed to providing the resources necessary to help all of our residents and businesses reach their full potential.
