The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art hosted “Cell Phone Photography 101 with Chad Edwards” on Monday, July 25, 2022 in the museum’s Christian gallery. Edwards, a popular local artist and photographer, whose work has been featured in multiple episodes of HGTVs Hometown, led the class and presented a variety of ways that photographers can get better images using their cellphones and a few tips and tricks. “The best camera,” he said, “is the one you have in your hands.” After the class, he led the class through the historic district so that participants could experiment with the techniques discussed in the class. The museum regularly hosts art related classes and would be open to hosting more classes on photography based on public interest LRMA’s Hillary Steinwinder explained. This course was held to complement two photography exhibits currently on display at the museum: “Walker Evans: American Photographs” and “Unusualness in the Ordinary: Photographs by Hunter McKelva Cole.”
