Mayor read to children at Laurel- Jones County Library

Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee dropped by the Laurel-Jones County Library Tuesday morning to read to children during their weekly story time. Magee read Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall, drew names for a contest sponsored by the Friends of the Library and signed a proclamation recognizing National Library Week.

The library will be hosting its annual summer reading program from June 1^st to July 30^th. This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities. More information can be found at the library’s website https://www.laurel.lib.ms.us/

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile.
