Attention Laurel Water Department Customers:
Some customers with the Laurel water department may receive a water bill from 2019. This bill can be disregarded. A current bill will be resent.
What happened: The third-party company that processes the city’s water bills mailed out bills for April 22, 2019 (4/22/19) instead of the bills for April 19, 2022 (4/19/22). Many people have reported getting bills for the wrong amount, bills showing credits or payments that are not due, or bills addressed to the wrong person.
Who is affected: Up to 28,000 accounts may be affected by this error. The error only affects those whose are billed on the 20th of the month. This is otherwise known as the “billing two” cycle.
What should I do if I have been affected: If you receive a bill from 2019, please discard and disregard it. The new, corrected bills will be sent out as soon as possible and will reflect your current balance.
What if I want or need to pay my bill sooner: You can obtain your billing information by calling the water department for your balance. They can give you the balance over the phone, email you a new bill, or print it out for you to pick up in person. However, this is not necessary as a new bill will be mailed to your address soon.
Who can I contact: If you have further questions or concerns, you can contact the Laurel Water Department at 601.428.6425.
