South Central Regional Medical Center’s Wound Care Center Receives Healogics’ Healing Center of the Year Award

October 29, 2024

(Submitted) Laurel, Miss. - Oct. 4, 2024 – On Sept. 25, the Wound Care Center at South Central Regional Medical Center held a special award recognition ceremony to celebrate

the 2023 accomplishments and officially receive Healogics’ awards. Healogics is a third party wound healing company that partners with over 600 hospitals

across the United States to offer advanced wound healing services. South Central has been involved in a partnership with Healogics for over a decade.

Frank Williams, the CEO of Healogics, and Jamie Fontana, the Select Wound Solutions Managing Vice President, traveled to Laurel especially for the ceremony where they presented SCRMC’s team with four prestigious facility awards: The President’s Circle, Center of Excellence, Center of Distinction and The Center of the Year.

The Center of the Year award is the highest honor available through Healogics, and it is awarded to the facility with the highest wound-adjusted comprehensive healing rate and quality metrics. This is the first time that SCRMC has received this award.

“To be clinic of the year is one of the highest honors we could hope for. It really is a team effort and we couldn't get anywhere if the entire team didn't contribute and do what they needed to,” said SCRMC’s Wound Care Medical Director, B. Michael Weber, MD. “I'm proud that the team was able to be recognized for all their hard work.”

The SCRMC Wound Care Center provider, Tiffany Keith, MHS, PA-C, was also recognized independently as Provider of the Year.

“My team and I are so grateful to receive these 5 national awards. I believe, when you really enjoy what you do, it shows in your work ethic, and when you genuinely care about your patients, it will show in the healing rates and quantitative data,” said Tiffany Keith.

"Together, we have played a major role in helping prevent amputations and allowing our patients the opportunity to play with their grandchildren again, go grocery shopping, or go for a walk on the beach and be active participants in life, and that is what truly matters. We are excited to keep healing patients in Laurel, Mississippi and surrounding areas one wound at a time!”

Each of these awards is given based on quantitative data comparisons of Healogics’ 600 centers. The company evaluates things like wound healing rates, wound progression, customer satisfaction rates and various other metrics to determine which center maintains the highest level of overall care for their patients; and SCRMC’s Wound Care Center has success rates that are exponentially higher than other Centers.

South Central is grateful for the hospital’s strong partnership with Healogics and remarkably proud of its Wound Care team for receiving these accolades.
